Our Commitment to Sustainability at Pinnacles
At Pinnacles, we are dedicated to reducing our environmental impact while delivering a high-quality guest experience. Below are some of the ways we’re working towards a more sustainable future:
- Reducing Our Energy Consumption
Energy-Efficient Lighting: All apartments are fitted with energy-efficient lighting, providing energy savings of up to 80%.
Air Conditioning: Air conditioners are preset to 25°C for guest arrivals, ensuring optimal comfort while maintaining energy efficiency.
Electric Vehicle Charging: We offer convenient electric car charging stations for our guests.
- Reducing Water Consumption
Eco-Friendly Booking Options: Guests can opt for eco-friendly room rates, including reduced housekeeping services and the option to reuse towels, helping conserve water and energy.
Efficient Laundry Practices: Our linen is laundered using continuous batch washers that use less than 3 litres of water per kilogram, without any additional electricity consumption.
- Dual Flush Toilets – helps conserve water and reduce environmental impact without compromising performance.
- Reducing Our Waste Consumption
Refillable Amenities: In 2022, Pinnacles replaced single-use miniature toiletries with 500ml refillable amenities from Australian-owned brand Appelles, preventing over 10,000 miniatures from entering landfill annually.
Digital Guest Information: We’ve transitioned to online guest compendiums and express check-ins, reducing paper usage and CO₂ emissions.
Compostable Bin Liners: We use Biopak compostable bin liners across our property.
Recycling Made Easy: Recycling bins are conveniently located next to all general waste bins to encourage proper waste sorting.
Wallaby Water: To support both guest comfort and our commitment to sustainability, all Pinnacles apartments are welcomed with two complimentary 400ml bottles of Wallaby Water on arrival. Wallaby Water is an Australian-owned company dedicated to protecting the environment- donating 10% of its profits directly to conservation initiatives across Australia. Their bottles are made from 100% recyclable aluminium, which is infinitely reusable and far more environmentally friendly than single-use plastic. Guests are encouraged to refill and reuse their bottles throughout their stay and beyond. Aluminium not only has a higher recycling rate than plastic, but it also retains its quality through every recycling cycle, helping reduce landfill and plastic pollution.
- Eco-Friendly Products & Local Purchasing
Guests can purchase our Eco-Friendly Cotton Canvas Beach Totes from reception – perfect for a day exploring the Whitsundays.
We proudly follow a local purchasing policy, sourcing 70% of our total spend from businesses within Airlie Beach, Bowen, and Proserpine, supporting our regional economy.
- Supporting Local Environmental Organisations
Eco Barge Clean Seas Inc. – Our Local Conservation Partnership
We proudly support Eco Barge Clean Seas Inc., a local not-for-profit organisation dedicated to protecting the Whitsundays through programs that:
Remove marine debris from our coastline
Reduce land-based litter entering our waterways
Recycle plastic collected from the ocean
Rescue and care for sick and injured marine turtles
Guests can support this important work by adding a donation at the time of booking or by participating in our apartment servicing program, where you may decline a service in exchange for a contribution to Eco Barge.
Since launching this initiative in April 2023, our guests have helped raise over $4,322 for conservation efforts in our region.

- Whales of the Whitsundays Project: We’re proud supporters of this initiative with the Whitsundays becoming a Whale Heritage Area—the first within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and a UNESCO World Heritage Area.

- Food Pantry Donations: We regularly donate non-perishable food items to the Whitsunday Neighbourhood Centre Community Food Pantry, which supports local individuals and families in need.

- Your Feedback Matters
We’re continuously exploring new ways to minimise our carbon footprint. If you have suggestions on how we can improve our sustainability efforts, we’d love to hear from you.
Together, we can protect the beautiful Whitsundays for generations to come.
